JEDDAH, 20 June 2003 — Class A bowler Jun Lasaga was in deadly form and helped the OMO team keglers climb up the ladder to snatch the No. 1 position in the 14th week of the 29th All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League (AFTBL) organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ) at the Bowling World tenpin alleys.
Lasaga, with an average of 207, toppled a three game series scratch of 622 rolling a game high of 234 in the second game. Lasaga’s fiery performance lifted the OMO to the top position and sealed 29 points and tallied an overall total team series handicap of 2,956 pinfalls. Along with Lasaga, the tandem of Zaldy Parinas and Joe Flores seared the lanes to score a series of 613 and 601. Toto Lim and Andy Erena shared a series of 481 and 434.
Sharing bowling spotlight with the OMO team keglers was the Dove Bar team captained by Edwin Ronquillo, who collected 34 points. Jess Pineda, with 8 handicap points led by sparking a series of 645 in three matches. Three time 300 perfect holder Hashim Guinomla and Jess Pineda painted the lanes red to score a series of 583 and 581. An overall total team series handicap of 2,948 was registered by the Dove Bar team.
The Saudi Pearl Team of the FTBJ President Rene San Pedro smashed 29 points and garnered overall total team series handicap of 2,923 pinfalls. FTBJ Secretary-General Luis T. Luna impressed to topscore with a series of 622, rolling 202 in the second game. The veteran Boy Casio and Rey Beltran shone by carding a series of 597 and 595. Rene Martinez and San Pedro chipped in a series of 570 and 539. The SkyFreight Forwarders shot an overall total team series handicap of 2,872 and pinned down 27 points through the sterling display of games of Danny de Guzman who tallied a series of 620, downing 224 in the first game.
Titlist Jun Pilipina exploded a series of 623 to lead in the Picpa Pro, rolling a towering 241 in the second match.
The Libby’s Juice recorded 22 points and combined overall total team series handicap of 2,813. Val Magsino and Igna Salgado topscored by carding an identical three game series of 596. Mao Orolfo and Rally Zamora poured 567 and 557 while Gil Cortez compiled 497 series. Topscoring in the Top Gun team keglers were Rodell Ricafort, Goying Salazar and Leo Edejer who submitted a separate three game series of 586, 581 and 577. Ruben Medina and Bert Tuvera registered 541 and 496. The Top Gun shot 20 points and earned an overall total team series handicap of 2,781.
The Ay Sarap Catering team axed 17 points through the good games of James Galvan who posted a series of 638. Roger Daquioag and Benjie Cyls dazzled to score a series of 566 and 526. Eddie Tuico got 435 points.
The Showtime and the Gandour Yamama fired 10 and 9 points, respectively. Rudy Punzalan led in the Showtime by knocking down a series of 582 and next to him was Noeh Leysa (558), followed by Ed Labuac (538), Dads Gueco (505) and Alex Flora (472).
