JEDDAH, 28 June 2003 — Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have agreed to allow their citizens to enter each other’s territory via the King Fahd Causeway without having to have their passports stamped by immigration officials, according to Al-Jazirah Arabic daily.
The decision was made during a recent meeting in Manama between a Saudi delegation led by Gen. Abdulaziz Sajeeni, director general of passports, and a Bahraini security delegation.
Sources revealed to Al-Jazirah that both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have also agreed to give foreigners accompanying Bahraini and Saudi families on trips into either country a foreign dependants’ multiple entry visa so that they too can pass through customs with the minimum of hassle. The Causeway extends 25 km from Bahrain’s northwest to Al-Aziziya, a suburb of Alkhobar.
