JEDDAH, 7 August 2003 — Hosts Asir suffered their second defeat in the Seventh Sadaka Soccer Tournament when they were beaten 3-0 by the Moroccan Olympic team in Asir yesterday.

Later, Al-Hilal were held to a 2-2 draw by the Syrian Olympic team in a match which saw the sending off of the Hilal goalkeeper. The teams were level 1-1 at the break.

In an one-sided encounter, the Moroccans proved superior in all facets of the game. All the three goals came in the first half of the game with the first in seventh, the second in the 43rd, via a penalty, and the third just seconds before the whistle for the interval.

Though Asir could have come back in the game early, but a wasted penalty by Nasser Al-Qahtani in the 21st minute and the Moroccans’ ascendancy thereafter put paid to their hopes.

The Moroccans dominated the second half completely but failed to get more goals, though Asir could do little to contain their repeated onslaught.

Today, the Iraqi Olympic team meets Fajer of Iran in first tie and Al-Nasr plays the Senegal Olympic team in the second match.
