JEDDAH, 5 September 2003 — In fourth week matches of summer league organized by Jeddah Cricket League, Red Sea Paints stunned UMA. Traco humiliated Traco Green. Adamjee Insurance brought down high-flying Saudia City. SGB Baroom defeated Nadeem Memorial. Young Athlete won against UNESCO.
UMA restricted Red Sea Paints to 134 runs but Red Sea Paints bowled UMA out for 111. Kauser (50) single handedly boosted Red Sea. He hit only three boundaries. Liaqat (11), Mazhar (15), and Altaf (12) too contributed as Red Sea Paints hit 134 for 6 wickets. Akbar, Waseem, and Iqbal took 2 wickets each for 15, 19, and 24 runs. UMA looked in very strong position but Imran (4 for 17) and Saleem (3 for 15) shattered its dreams. Waseem top scored with 18, Akbar (14 - one six) and Asim (14 - one four) were the others of note.
Traco Green found Traco bowlers unplayable on the day and were skittled for 70 runs. Traco rattled the required runs in 8 overs. Amjad (4 for 22) destroyed Traco Green’s batting. Mohsin Mirza (2 for 8) and Azeem (3 for 11) mopped up the tail. Traco lost Hamid Rana for 6 but Ilyas (12) and Iftikhar (14-one six and a four) played steady. Then Mohsin Mirza (31 n.o. - 4 fours and 2 sixes) led Traco’s romp.
Adamjee Insurance put up a modest tally of 160 runs in its allotted overs. Saudia City, in reply, was sent packing for 130 runs.
Adamjee Insurance’s schoolboy Murtaza (47 - 8 fours) and Naveed (43 - 4 fours) added 71 runs for the second wicket and then Rizwan scored 22 with the help of 2 fours. Saleem added 13.
Adamjee Insurance reached 160 for the loss of 7 wickets. Qasim (3 for 22) was the pick of the bowlers. Saleem (4 for 19) then routed Saudia City. Qasim (31), along with Azan and Rifan contributed 25 and 22 respectively. Saudia City was bowled out for 130 runs. Rahim (2 for 17) also bowled well.
