JEDDAH, 11 September 2003 — Al-Hilal, despite dominating the entire match, seemed to have left their shooting boots at home as they were held 1-1 by Al-Nasr in the Riyadh derby of the King Fahd Soccer League yesterday.
Both the goals came in the first half of the pulsating encounter at the King Fahd International Stadium. Hilal scored first, in the 20th minute, when Ahmad Al-Douki’s cross was neatly converted by Trauri beating a regrouping Nasr defense all ends up. Nasr, relying on swift counters, got the equalizer two minutes before the break when Marcelo struck true from a set piece.
Al-Ahli got back to their winning ways when they defeated Al-Taie by a solitary goal at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium here. Waleed Al-Jizani struck the match-winner in the 72nd minute in a match which saw Ahli holding sway for the majority of the play. In Dammam, Al-Qadisiya and Al-Shabab played out a 1-1 draw, while in Makkah, Al-Wehada too were held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Soala.
