JEDDAH, 8 October 2003 — Are you interested in editing pictures and doing graphics design? Read on.
On Friday, a seminar on “Basic Image Editing” will be held at the Tropicana Restaurant along Thalia Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., free of charge.
On hand to share his skills is Dan Factoran, a graphics designer and one of the leading toastmasters in Jeddah. He will conduct a hands-on training on the standard photo editing and graphics software Adobe Photoshop-7 and Illustrator-10.
“While this seminar is for beginners, even those who have a background on photo-editing could also learn a lot from our resource person,” said OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC) chairman Ed Rufino.
“You may need these skills as a hobby or to earn extra income or livelihood,” he added, noting that graphics designers are among the well-paid Filipinos in the Kingdom.

Castolome said the OFWCC’s seminars are basically free of charge but participants are requested to share the expenses incurred on venue, food and rentals of computer units.
Organized under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate in 1998, OFWCCs computer training program has helped hundreds of Filipinos in the Western Region gain computer knowledge.
Just last week, 142 OFWs completed the Council’s 12th Computer Literacy Seminar which offered lessons on Windows XP, MS Word; Excel; Power Point; PC Assembly and Set-up; MS Access and Internet Browsing.
During their graduation ceremony at the Nayong Pilipino Restaurant in Jeddah, organizers noted that most of the graduates were professionals who wanted to expand their knowledge on computers.
One of the graduates, Danilo Londonio, said: “The computer literacy seminar has helped me become highly efficient in my work.”
The OFWCC has a pool of experts on computer hardware and software, led by its vice chairman Rudy Carillo, who is a Microsoft-certified systems engineer or MCSE.
The team also includes Ernie Geslani, chairman of the committee on reintegration; Gary Paala, past OFWCC chairman Jimmy Leonida, special education committee chairman Leo Trijo, Ike Galora, Atoy Esguerra, Willy Ansis and other volunteers.
