JEDDAH, 21 October 2003 — A new technology for Internet users, which claims to enable “faster and trouble-free” surfing of the web, has been introduced in Saudi Arabia.
“The service, offered by an Internet service provider in cooperation with Saudi Telecom, enables Internet users to use his telephone line to search the web and at the same time use the line to make or receive calls,” International Computer Company for Solutions and Technology (ICCSolutions) General Manager Akram Elyas said at a presentation here on Sunday.
“ICCSolutions has introduced the service through its branches and distributors throughout the Kingdom to meet the rising demand from Internet users in the Kingdom,” Talal Al-Shaqaqi, a management executive of ICCSolutions, a recipient of the ISO 9001-2000, said, adding the new service offer included a free modem and technical support.“The service will be useful for individual Internet users at home and much more so for the corporate sector, as they will find less jamming and breakdowns,” he said.
Individual users have so far had to either disconnect their phone to go online or install a second landline.
