BHOPAL, 4 November 2003 — Though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been claiming to contest the ensuing Dec. 1 elections in the four Congress-ruled states on developmental issues but now it is not feeling shy to seek the services of controversial Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the Hindutva face of the party, in the campaigning.
As such Modi will be one of the star BJP poll campaigners for Madhya Pradesh as in three other states Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi.
While Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is likely to address 14 public meetings, itself high by his standards, Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani will address “about 30.” But the “hero of Gujarat” for the BJP will put in as many as a whopping 60 appearances. In a two-week campaign process, it will mean that Modi will be addressing as many as 4 meetings per day.
