Naif Calls On Wounded Officers

RIYADH, 9 November 2003 — Interior Minister Prince Naif yesterday visited the security officers wounded in a gunbattle with terrorists here last Thursday and commended their efforts in safeguarding the Kingdom’s security and stability.

“We are proud of the sacrifices being made by security men and the bravery they have displayed to protect the country and the Islamic faith” from terrorists, the prince said.

Prince Naif visited the officers at the Security Forces Hospital here. He was received on arrival at the hospital by Lt. Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director general of public security, and other top officers.

“The Saudi leadership greatly appreciates your noble work,” Prince Naif told the wounded officers in the presence of their parents and relatives. The minister wished them a speedy recovery.

Assistant Interior Minister for Security Affairs Prince Muhammad ibn Naif also paid a visit to the hospital Thursday evening to check up on the wounded officers.

Prince Muhammad commended the officers’ bravery and patriotism.

According to Dr. Muhammad Mufti, director general of the hospital, all of the eight officers were “slightly wounded.”
