JEDDAH, 14 November 2003 — In the 11th ALJ Invitational Basketball Tournament, Al-Jazirah edged Zuhair Fayez 66-65 in a very physical ballgame to clinch third place in the Inter-Company Bona fide category. Saptco, with Fernando playing like a man possessed, defeated the Narspac quintet 76-73.
The win enabled Saptco to capture third place in the Inter-Division Invitational category. Al-Hamrani grabbed third place in the Non-Rated Division without breaking a sweat.
Baituna the team they were supposed to play in a knockout match didn’t show up. Fernando finished with 26 points for Saptco, who played solid and cohesive basketball. Flores and Lansang also scored 12 and 10 points for Saptco. Pulpulaan had 21 points for Nasrpac, while Iguas netted 17 points; Calipay had 14, and Pedrina 10 points.
