I set out looking for a little something for my apartment. What I found was more than I had expected. A place that offers a complete range of services to the modern home builder! Not a 2-in-one but in fact a 4-in-one! Do I have your attention now?!
Upon entering the elegant interior decorating shop ‘Roots,’ located in a corner of the Al Khayat Center behind ‘Jeddah Mall’, I simply stood and looked at the mysterious environment before me! I had to go back out of the shop to look more carefully at the exterior that had attracted my attention in the first place. The design, color, the windows and the unique pieces on display and the play of lights coming from inside. Definitely I had gone into the right place!
Once inside an employee made his way toward me, inviting to look around the shop. A totally graceful play of shapes, colors and textures make this decorating shop unique. I wandered around, encountering a number of interesting combinations of furniture and decorative pieces, all set in different styles from the more classical to the newest modern.
Everywhere I could see hints of different decorative styles and passages through bygone eras. I could not contain myself so I had to touch all the sofas, tables, chairs, curtains; even picture frames caught my attention. Clearly I mean to say that the materials used in all areas were exquisite. Ranging from woods of all kinds, glass, leather, cotton: such an amazing combination of materials!
Once I had walked around, I noticed a staircase leading to the top floor. The stairs had escaped my first glances! Such a colorful staircase at that! Once on the upper level, I believe I made a wrong turn and bumped into someone I later discovered was the manager. I couldn’t help asking, “What kind of shop is this?” The gentleman smiled and answered, “‘Roots’ is not a shop; it is a concept!”
Now it all started to make sense. During our conversation, I learned that the shop ‘Roots’ is in fact Roots Gallery and is part of a much larger project started a little more than 5 years ago. The owner, an engineer who majored in interior design, along with a talented wood artisan, started the company. They did work for a variety of customers from private residences to offices and hotels.
They would provide the engineering skills on one job. On another they would provide the furniture & some decorative paintings. Pretty soon ‘Roots’ clients started asking all sorts of questions about other elements of decoration and/or engineering. Before long ‘Roots’ became an enterprise ready to enter the market with a completely new way to look at the home from beginning to end! ‘Roots’ is in fact ‘Roots Wood Factory’, ‘Roots Paint’, ‘Roots Interiors’ and the culmination of all the years of work, ‘Roots Gallery’.
In other words, a new home builder can now see the home project through, from the first creative idea till the final result, using one company. The ‘Roots’ enterprise is a result of many years of hard work, research & experience in a lot of the fields that pertain to civil engineering and interior design.
The combined knowledge accumulated gave birth, shall we say, to the ‘concept’ behind ‘Roots’. Imagine a house in your mind. Think of all the things you have to do from scratch, then relax. Within the Roots Gallery I was able to see how that could be made possible.
