ATLANTA, 25 November 2003 — Marc Savard returned from a three-week injury layoff to score a power-play goal in the second period, lifting the Atlanta Thrashers to a 1-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL on Sunday.

Savard, who was returning from an ankle injury, deflected a shot from Randy Robitaille through traffic and past Brian Boucher at 8:26 in the second period.

Boucher made 28 saves, but it was not enough to halt the Coyotes’ winless streak on the road reaching nine games (0-4-4-1). Pasi Nurminen made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season as Atlanta won its fourth straight game.
