ALKHOBAR, 19 December 2003 — Cebuano Integrated Society & Tribal Allies (CISTA)-Saudi Arabia Filipino Tennis Enthusiast (SAFTE) thwarted Juffali to grab the championship trophy in a hotly-contested clash during the concluding match of the two days CISTA-SAFTE-Juffali Dual Tennis Tournament held at Juffali tennis court.
Juffali Class C and B players were on a winning streak on the first day of the match to uphold 3 win-leads but seasoned CISTA Class A players parried-off Juffali's onslaught in the 10th match to level the game.
In game 11, Nilo Bihasa and Mar Laque refused to roll over and took five games after being 5-9 down, CISTA's Ronnie Solicar and Nestor Failano squandered critical match points and lost 10-9.
CISTA's Flor Luage and Hermie dela Serna dispatched the pair of Danny Senil and Edwin Cruz 10-6 to tie the game. In a deciding showdown, Nimrod Cajuyong and Tony Bartolome lost to the all-round strength of CISTA's Archie Tim Cabahug and Osie Ypilan 10-6.
The tandem of Oscar Yangco and Jeffrey Varquez yielded to Cris Cabrera and Felix Manalo 10-3. Mike Consad and Bobby Balbuena overwhelmed Jojo Liwanagan and Mon Brucal 10-5. Ken Dajang and Gwen Espina bowed to Rhey Escoto and Efren Roman 10-6. Rod Quilino and Vincent Go overwhelmed Poe Soriano and Demmy dela Cruz 10-6. Ed Julian and Jorge Nacional was defeated by Robert Elsisura and Bing Fabros 10-7. Janice Sidro and Bing Reyambonanza succumbed to Pags Pagaduan and Ed Quinto 10-8.
