Khalid Al-Eid Wins OIC Equestrian Event

RIYADH, 23 December 2003 — Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Eid led a Saudi Arabia sweep of top three places in the First Equestrian Championship of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries here on Sunday.

On behalf of Crown Prince Abdullah, Prince Miteb, the minister of municipal and rural affairs, gave away the prizes and cash awards to the winner and runners-up.

Twenty-five riders from Islamic countries participated in the event, which was held at the King Abdulaziz College.

Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, head of the Youth Welfare Presidency and chairman of the organizing committee, also attended the event.

Prince Miteb presented the winner’s trophy and the gold medal to Khalid Al-Eid. Saudi riders dominated the event and won four of the top five places. The silver medal was won by Kamal Bahamdan and Ramzi Al-Dhami took the bronze. Iranian Masoud Brejan came fourth and finished ahead of another Saudi Abdullah Sharbatli.
