Qatar Appoints New Minister of Economy

DOHA, 31 January 2003 — Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad ibn Khalifa Al-Thani appointed a new minister of economy and trade yesterday in a minor Cabinet reshuffle, the official QNA news agency reported. The emir named Mohammed ibn Ahmad ibn Jassim Al-Thani as the country’s new economy and trade minister, replacing Sheikh Hamad ibn Faisal Al-Thani, who had held the post since January 2002, when the economy and trade portfolio was separated from that of finance.
