JEDDAH, 5 January 2004 — A total of 8,800 Thai pilgrims will perform Haj this time, according to the Thai Consulate.
The first batch of Thai pilgrims arrived at the Haj Terminal of King Abdul Aziz International Airport last week.
A team of six doctors, 13 paramedics and three ambulances has also arrived from Thailand, the consulate stated. The Thai pilgrims’ quota reached its speak in 1996 when 23,000 of its pilgrims performed Haj.
Muslims constitute eight to 10 percent of Thailand’s more than 62 million population.
