JEDDAH, 10 January 2004 — British Airways, which has resumed its suspended flights to Riyadh, has launched a “tactical spring surprise” promotion for Jeddah passengers, offering a minimum of 50 percent discount in its “World Traveller,” “World Traveller Plus” and “Club World” cabins. Return fares from Jeddah to London in World Traveller are as low as SR1,400, to the rest of the UK SR1,600, to Europe SR1,800 and to the United States SR2,200. “Fares to London in World Traveller Plus and Club World are from SR2,200 and SR3,600,” BA’s Country Commercial Manager Chris Phipps said.
“Booking and ticketing has to be finalized on or before Thursday (Jan. 15) for outbound travel from Jeddah between Jan. 17 and Feb. 2. “Inbound travel must be completed by April 15 and the offer is valid for travel from and to Jeddah only,” he said. Tickets, however, can be purchased throughout the Kingdom, he said, adding that this offer is valid on BA only and not combinable with any other offer. Also, seats are subject to availability at the time of booking. The airline operates four flights a week from Jeddah to London.
“We offer this promotion for the third year in a row because we know passengers like it. They have been hugely popular, as people do want to travel during Eid holidays,” he said.
He said six of the airline’s regular flights would be upgraded to fly in pilgrims during the peak days of Haj travel. “We’re upgrading the flights with the use of Boeing 747 aircraft, which has bigger capacity than that of the aircraft currently in use on the Jeddah sector.”
BA resumed its flights to Riyadh on Monday after they were suspended following a terror alert.
