MUSCAT, 24 February 2004 — The Muscat Festival 2004, which ended on Friday night, attracted more than 1.7 million visitors over its monthlong run.
Abdullah ibn Abbas ibn Ahmed, president of the organizing Muscat Municipality, said in all 1,715,435 people, both citizens and expatriates, visited the festival to set a new attendance record. “It is a welcome rise in tourism and trade activities,” he said.
The farewell night was marked by a concert at the Seeb Park beach featuring Egyptian singer Hashim Abbas.
“The 2005 festival is going to be even bigger,” Abdullah said.
