Team Yellow Lead at Juffali Spring Team Tennis

ALKHOBAR, 27 February 2004 — Eighty tennis enthusiasts from eight teams are compete keenly in the ongoing Juffali Spring Team Tennis Tournament held every day at Juffali Compound here. The tournament started on Feb. 19, and got enthusiastic participation from players of various tennis club affiliations in the Eastern province, like, FETA, ELTA, Bankers, and CISTA-SAFTE. Each team consists of 10 players and grouped into White, Violet, Gray, Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, and Orange team.

Seeing action during the first round match, the Yellow Team leapt to an excellent start when they garnered the highest number of points after defeating the Blue Team 36-22.

Poe Soriano and Nestor Oribello routed Rey Macarayo and Nilo Bihasa 8-3. The tandem of Archie Tim Cabahug and Danny Rabago outmaneuvered the highly favored Gaby Sandalo and Ronnie Solicar 8-4. Abel Mayo and Jun Manumbas found their tempo to halt the unrelenting top spin of Nestor Failano and Joni Lapuz 8-3. Joseph Liwanagan and Cris Cabrera outgunned Manny Anes and Manny Esico 8-4. However, Bernie Mayol and Victor Glor lost to Melo Rotaquio and Roland Zartiga 8-4.

The White Team outplayed Violet Team 33-22. Flor Catanus and PJ Briagas were defeated by Aramd Mina and Manny Dona 1-8. Junjie Lumibaw and Noel Lasorata overwhelmed Emil De Dios and Danny Senil. Ed Rodriguez and William Buot defeated Mon Brucal and Nelson Ballesteros 8-5.

The Green Team outsmarted Orange Team by just 1 point 33-32. Demi Dela Cruz and Jimmy Gualberto downed Danny Paring and Edgard Laderas 8-7. Elmer Bonifacio and Choy Nierva outgunned Oswald Arcalles and Remy Pagaduan 8-5. While, Danny Corpuz and Alex Villamayor succumbed to Edwin Francisco and Rene Villaruel 4-8.

Meanwhile, Gray Team overpowered Red Team 32-30. Edwin Cruz and Efren Roman trounced Manny Acantillado and Rey Escoto 8-4. Jorge Nacional and James Sidro bowed to Bing Fabros and Randy Regala. Alfred Villanueva and Robert Elsisura outsmarted Felix Manalo and Maxie Ochoa. Jun Penaranda and Cris Salvador prevail over Pete Ramos and Victor Richohermoso 8-6.

The rule of the match is all doubles round robin and blind pairing.
