RIYADH, 12 March 2004 — D’Marvelous extended their hot display in the Pizza Inn Thursday Night Bowling League to become Team of the Week in the newly-opened tournament at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here. Already the leader in the Sunday League, D’Marvelous went near perfect in hammering X-tremes, 27-19 on total pinfalls of 4,169 and 3,454. D’Marvelous’ 27 points were just shy of the maximum total of 28 as they missed just one game worth 2 points while sweeping the bonus points for scores of 850, 900, 950 and 1,000. They carded games of 1,056, 1,030, 1083 and 1,020.
“A” Bowlers and Amera Cargo tallied identical 26 points in brushing aside opponents “A” Bowlers rolled total pinfalls of 4,061 in whipping Dugong Bughaw which made 17 points and total pinfalls of 3,918, while Amera Cargo slammed 4,133 pinfalls past Kirotzky (20 points, 4,027).
Dink Fair snatched a 22-22 draw with fancied RBC Patriots on total pinfalls of 4,070 and 3,955 and The Bowlmates edged MMFF Bowlers 24-23 (4,182-4,117) in the other matches in the tourney organized by Rommel Romano, Eric Perez and Rod Tagaban. Dink Fair’s Rod Basilio outraced everyone for the individual Bowler of the Week award, hitting the high series of 906. Amera Cargo’s Robert Arcena was the only other player to break 900 at 904. Benito Santos showed the way home for Kia Morido’s D’Marvelous with 894. Fhel Ramos fired 836 to go with the 821 by Jim Lasaca, 819 by Jun Gana and 799 by Onette Orca.
“A” Bowlers rode the solid rounds of Angel Pantoja (856), Jett Cabana (846), Marvin Arocena (834) and Ernie Quiambao (815) on the way to the victory. Sammy San Juan fired 876, while Boy Bartolome added 629, Ryan Labiaga 593 and Henry Acosta 576.
The week’s high scorers include MMFF’s Jojo Miraflor and Arnold Marchan with 891 and 885 and The Bowlmates’ Mike Alcaraz and Chris Sibayan with 882 and 870 respectively.
