DHAKA, 13 March 2004 — Injured writer Humayun Azad, now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, is showing signs of improvement.
“He does not need to take liquid food through tube any more,” Azad’s wife Latifa Kohinoor said from the hospital where the writer has been undergoing treatment since the Feb. 27 machete attack on him near the Bangla Academy. His condition has improved a lot, but he still needs help to move and walk around, she said.
The Criminal Investigation Department has not been able to make any headway in the investigation. “We have made no further arrests but the investigation is on,” CID inspector Kazi Abdul Malek said.
