JEDDAH, 1 April 2004 — The “Water & Oil Massage” being organized by the Filipino Women Overseas Workers (Filwow) will be held at the International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ) tomorrow as scheduled.
Filwow leader Evelyn Santos said the school board had granted the group a permit to use the school’s Social Hall from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event had been previously cancelled by the IPSJ Board of Trustees after the organizing committees failed to get the necessary permission prior to publicizing their program on television and newspapers.
Santos said the seminar, which is free of charge, is not just for health maintenance purposes but also to give the low-paid Filipino women workers an alternative source of income.
“This will benefit not only the busy working women, but also the ‘oldies’ whose physical ‘handicap’ are a result of their limited activity,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Cebuano Speaking Organization in Saudi Arabia (CSOSA) said its fund-raising program for the benefit of Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has been moved to April 15. The fund-raising games will be from 3 p.m. up to 6 p.m., and the musical benefit show from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Donations in cash, kinds and goods are welcome.
