RIYADH, 23 April 2004 — Novice Isagani Buen, nicknamed Gani by his friends, outsmarted experienced players to capture the title in the All Filipino One-Day Bowling Tournament. This is a pre-tournament to the forthcoming All Filipino Friday Bowling League scheduled to start soon at the FAL Bowling Alley.
Buen with a handicap of 30 per game tallied a five game series of 1,090 pinfalls to clinch the title and the cash prize. He also secured a slot in the battle of the All Filipino Monthly Champions.
Manny Balangue, a Class B bowler settled for the second position by garnering 1,061 points in five games. Another novice player, Jeffrey Jimenez finished third. Jimenez scored a five game series of 1,001 points.
Novice Victor Berdin placed fourth with a total five game series handicap of 998 pinfalls. Jun "jpaks" Ausa took the fifth position with a series of 989 in five outings.
Fred Dilapdilap of Bahr Al-Olum Printing Press landed in sixth position with a series of 985 while Willy Nogoy took the seventh position by carding a series of 968. Ramon Catipon and Mario Rivera of Alsalam Aircraft were in eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
Catipon and Rivera scored separate five-game series handicap of 931 and 929. Benny Mondoy and Louie Laguardia settled for tenth and 11th positions. Mondoy and Laguardia had identical five-game series handicap of 926.
Gigi Enriquez (919) and Rey Mendoza (918) occupied the 12th and 13th positions, respectively. Edwin Nunez, and Ricky Talde took the next slots. Nunez and Talde rolled separate series of 911 and 904.
