RIYADH, 6 May 2004 — A new SACO hypermarket for hardware, building material products and home improvement solutions, opened here last night.

The store will offer “35,000 quality products and services on sale and for rent under one roof,” said Haytham Al-Hamidi, SACO’s executive manager for sales and marketing.

Al-Hamidi said SR50 million had been earmarked by the company to open four similar megastores in other parts of the Kingdom. A novel feature of this new “SACO World” is a drivethrough facility enabling customers to buy construction materials without leaving their cars.

Speaking at the opening, Al-Hamidi said: “During the past two decades, SACO has become recognized throughout the Kingdom as a one-stop shop for all home needs. This flagship showroom is the culmination of almost 20 years experience in providing local consumers what they want and what they cannot find anywhere else.”

He said the new store included 13 sections including the department of installation, design services, a children’s playroom and a coffee shop on the second floor. “SACO World has an installation desk staffed with a team of professionals whose job is to help a customer get his project assembled easily and within his budget,” Al-Hamidi added.

SACO World also offers rental facilities to enable customers and contractors to tackle larger jobs without spending large sums buying tools and equipment. This hypermarket is the 14th in a chain of outlets in eight cities across the Kingdom.

SACO was established in 1985 and the latest store covers 11,300 sq. m. It is located on the Dammam Highway (Northern Ring Road-Exit 5) and has also created a number of jobs for Saudis.
