RIYADH, 7 May 2004 — Pitted against bottom team Dink Fair “Sweater”, “A” Bowlers took advantage and clinched Team of the Week honors during the 8th session of the Pizza Inn Thursday Night Bowling League Second Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes.
Captained by Jett Cabana, “A” Bowlers finally earned the coveted weekly plum by compiling 26 points and total pinfalls of 3,966. Dink Fair “Sweater” tallied 6 points and total pinfalls of 3,493 in taking a second successive heavy defeat in the five-man team league event sponsored United Food Company (Pizza Inn).
Kirotzky found an occasion for crowing when they held league-leading D’Marvelous to a 22-22 draw on total pinfalls of 3,974 and 4,026. The previous week honoree, Dugong Bughaw, claimed a morale-boosting 25-16 victory over RBC Patriots on total pinfalls of 4,018 and 3,791, while Amera Cargo downed X-tremes 20.5-18.5 (3,869-3,869) and The Bowlmates edged Keglers Manila 19-18 (3,825-3,806) in other matches.
Freddie Santiago of Dugong Bughaw won the individual race for Bowler of the Week when he shot the high series of 891 on lines of 206, 210, 254, 161 and 60 handicap. Cabana led his team by example, shooting 819 on rounds of 206, 215, 194 and 204. He was supported by Angel Pantoja with 800, while Ernie Quiambao carded 761, Manny Lebrilla 759, Darcy Odono 420 and Jomari de Luna 407 for “A” Bowlers.
Despite the draw, D’Marvelous went on to become the top output-getter thanks to the fluent five of Fhel Ramos (859), Benito Santos (852), Jun Gana (789) Donjie Mapalad (775) and Onette Orca (751).
