JEDDAH, 14 May 2004 — Saudia City beat Hero Rangers by 51 runs with the help of Qasim’s 108 and Aslam’s 5-wicket haul. Aslam’s unbeaten 90 helped Otis chase the moderate total of Saudia Majestique, Murtuza’s 70 and Nadeem’s unbeaten 61 helped Nader Toor beat Nadeem Memorial by 62 runs, Arif Hashmi’s superb efforts with the bat and ball was in vain as Publicis Graphics lost to a spirited Babar Toor while Saleheen beat IISJ in the Friday Division II League organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL).
Batting first, Publicis Graphics scored 154 for 6 in 20 overs. Arif Hashmi made 49 (5x4, 2x6), while Hameed 36 and Afser 23 also contributed. Arif took 2 for 19 while Shahid, Ijaz and Shehzad took one wicket each for Baber Toor. In reply, Ghayoor of Nader Toor hit a magnificent 46 runs and Abdul Razzaq 32 and Shehzad 19 to overhaul Publicis Graphics tally in 17.5 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Arif grabbed 4 for 31, Rumi and Ihthesham took one wicket each.
Saudia City elected to bat and piled up 199 for 4 in 18 overs. Qasim scored 108 (16x4, 2x6) and was ably supported by veteran Naseem Khan, who made and undefeated 51 runs. Prishan De Silva hit 17 (3x4) off just 8 balls. Furkhan 2 for 32, Yaseen 1 for 27 and Nadeem 1 for 43 performed well for Hero Rangers. In reply Hero Rangers started well but Aslam with a five for 24 haul bundled out Hero Rangers for 148. Naseem Khan 2 for 34, captain Junaid 2 for 20 and Qasim with the prize wicket of Abid in his first over stood out. Iftekhar 35 (7x4), Aftab 24 (3x4) and Adil 24 (3x4) played well the Rangers who lost by 51 runs.
Batting first, Saudia Majestique scored 151 for 6 at Hempel Paints grounds. Zahid was unlucky to be out for 13, while Amjad (30) and Naeem Khan (29) played sensibly. Yousuf Bobat then scored a well deserved 40 runs, and Saleem Bobat managed 16 runs in his side’s 151 for 6 in 18 overs. Sadathullah took 2 for 31 while Aslam 1 for 26 and Akbar 1 for 26. Aslam of Otis hit an unbeaten 90. Asif scored an unbeaten 32 (2x4, 1x6) as Otis reached the target in just 15.2 overs and losing only 3 wickets. Only Saleem Bobat took 3 for 34.
Batting first, Nader Toor piled up 218, Murtuza (70) and Nader (27) started their innings by hitting eleven runs in the first over and than never stopped the plunder. Then Nadeem scored an unbeaten 61 (4x4, 2x6).
In reply Nadeem Memorial were bundled out for a paltry 165 in 19.3 overs, Asif 33, Zafar 30, Khadim 28 and Saleem 14 retired hurt stood out. Nadeem, Naveed and Hussain took two wickets apiece in Nader Toor’s 62 runs victory.
At Juffali grounds, Saleheen tallied 189 for 7 in 18 overs as Irfan made 40 valuable runs. Zia 37, Arif 29, Afzal 19 and Abdul Shakoor 14 (3x4) too contributed against IISJ. Rupesh took 3 wickets while Amjad Majeedul Hassan, Fawaz, Sufiyan and Mamoon took one wicket each.
In reply IISJ were 122 all out in 15.4 overs. Fawaz 32 runs and Mr. Extras 26 were the main contributors. Other contributors were Rupesh 16, Mamoon 12, Sufiyan and Jawad 10. Zulfiqar took 3 wickets, Abdul Shakoor took 2 wickets while Waqar, Irfan, Saleem and Nazim took one wicket each. Saleheen won by 67 runs.
