Wajid, Imran & Pervez Steal the Show in JCL Div. I

JEDDAH, 14 May 2004 — Imran's polished knock of 92 helped Juffali Michielen win by a margin of 61 against Dabbagh, LG United Naghi with the help of Wajid's 115 beat highly spirited Al Sharief Shalimar by 37 runs, Pervez's performance with the bat and behind the stumps went in vain as Kanoo Travels grabbed a 19 runs victory against Afkar Promo-7 in the Div I- 8th week matches organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL).

At Attar ground, LG United Naghi elected to bat first and the openers piled up a first-wicket partnership of 98 that was embellished by a 2nd-wicket partnership between Wajid & Salam of another important 95 runs for LG after Talha was run out for 42. He made those runs in only 21 deliveries. Wajid hit glorious shots to every corner of the field and went to score 115 runs in 63 balls with 15 boundaries and two towering sixes in his innings.

Salam made 26 runs as LG totaled 218 for 5 wickets. Mubashir and Tareq took 2 wickets each for Shalimar. In reply, Shalimar started well as Tareq 28, Naveed 46 (6x4, 2x6), Abdullah 38 (3x4), Taher 21 and Yunus 15 forced the pace but were restricted to 181 for 9 leaving LG victors by 37 runs. Arif took 3 for 25, Salaam Amoudi took 2 for 30 while Wajid Abdullah and Waheed took one each for LG.

At Juffali grounds, Imran of Juffali smashed 92 runs with the help of dozen hits to the fence after Naeem Shah had managed only 3 runs.

Zahid helped Juffali with an unbeaten 77 (10x4) and with Imran made 157 runs for the third wicket. With the bonus of 20 extras, Juffali tallied 202 for 3 in 20 overs. Shakeel and Shahzad took a wicket each.

In reply, Dabbagh collapsed to 141 runs. Yasin and Naser made 29 and 26 runs respectively while Zahid and Rub Nawaz took 2 wickets as Juffali won by 61 runs.

At Hempel Paints grounds, Kanoo Travels batting first scored 165 for 7 against Afkar Promo-7 in the allotted 20 overs, Urooj 23, Shoaib 32, Najam 44 (6x4) Majid 25 (3x4 n.o.) helped Kanoo Travels reach 165. Majid and Latif took 2 wickets each for 26 and 24 respectively for Afkar Promo-7.

In reply, Afkar Promo managed 146 for 8 with Nilanth, who made an unbeaten 65 runs, and Pervez, who managed to score 31, standing out for Afkar Promo-7 as Kanoo Travels won by 19 runs.

Fast bowler Shoukath 2 for 15 and Shamim Ul Haque 2 for 12 and Najam who took the price wicket of Pervez, who also had 3 catches one stumping and a run out for his team, stood out.
