NEW DELHI, 22 May 2004 — The Central Bureau of Investigation yesterday started the interrogation of Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the multimillion stamp paper scam, who was brought here from Pune yesterday.

The agency said that many hidden facts were expected to emerge from Telgi’s interrogation during its custody in the next few days.

On the directions of the Supreme Court, the CBI has been investigating the cases, including the Nasik Security Printing Press case and Railway Protection Force (RPF) case. The accused will also be questioned in relation to cases transferred from Maharashtra Police, Special Investigation Team (SIT) Bombay and Delhi Police.

Earlier, after a prolonged legal battle, the CBI finally managed to secure the custody of Telgi and brought him here after a Pune court gave it Telgi`s 10-day custody to carryout a detailed probe in the fake stamp paper cases.

Telgi is the man whose arrest and subsequent interrogation has led to political uproars in Mahrashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karanataka.
