RIYADH, 27 May 2004 — As 12th grade students around the Kingdom prepare for their examinations which begin on Saturday, a new website has been launched to help them tackle any problems they have in the various subjects.
The website — www.alnadi.net — was launched this week by Kingdom Schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. More than 250,000 students will sit for their examinations over a two-week period starting May 29.
There are 13 subjects to be tested, including Arabic, English, Islamic Studies, Mathematics and Arts and Science. Results will be announced in the local newspapers one week after the last day of testing.
“We are proud to have been selected by the ministry to implement this progressive idea of creating an online working environment for students who are reaching an important stage of their school life,” said Dr. Ali Al-Karni, general supervisor of Kingdom Schools.
“The program, called ‘The Most Difficult Question,’ will enable students in the 12th grade to ask any question and receive answers through the Net within minutes,” Dr. Al-Karni said.
The school’s computer club website, which is supervised by ministry officials, has 13 rooms pertaining to all the subjects of the 12th grade examinations.
“Any student with difficulty in any subject can access the Net without needing a user ID or password and get his questions answered online,” he said.
Kingdom Schools have assigned 30 teachers to serve in the online support center to ensure questions get instant replies, including inquires regarding the examination. So far, more than 140,000 students have accessed the website, either to get information or ask questions.
