JEDDAH, 18 June 2004 — Salman of Saudia City hits an unbeaten 113 to help his team beat Hero Rangers by 16 runs, Publicis Graphics won by 6 wickets against KAIA with the help of Fawaz's 58 runs. Raheel 52 not out and Imran 64 not out helped Sadafco to a 9-wicket win against Young Athletes, Naveed's all-round performance (77 and 3 for 18) and Hussain's 52 helped Urdu News defeat Talha Optics by a comfortable margin and ensure a slot in the last eight.
SGB won their match against Saudia Milk by 74 runs with Osman Tahir 54, Usman Ali 48 and Farhan Kaleem 45 standing out, while Nestle Milo scored a 7 wickets win against United Motors Agencies (UMA) with all round efforts from Hassan (62 n.o. and 2 for 20) and Ali Johar (40 n.o. and 2 for 28) in the fourth round of the JCL-Arab News under-19 tournament under the youth development program sponsored by Arab News.
At Juffali grounds, Hero Rangers put Saudia City into bat and they totaled 200 for 5 in 18 overs. Salman hit an unbeaten 113 (11x4). Zain contributed 24. Zeeshan took 2 wickets and one by Noman.
Hero Rangers fell short by 16 runs as Shahid cracked 49. Other contributors were Ahmed 16, Noman 15, Junaid 17 and Ali 16. Faizan took 3 for 32 and Zain 3 for 35 while Usman grabbed 2 for 15.
At Khalid Kanoo grounds, KAIA scored 162 for 6. Aymen scored 67 (7x4, 1x6), with Majed 17, Qamar 16, Farhan 14 and 10 runs each by Tipu Shahzad and Majeed boosted the tally. Fawaz took 3 wickets, Shadab took 2 wickets while Amjad Majeedul Hassan took one.
In reply, Publicis Graphics' Fawaz hit 58 off 36 balls and Amjad supported him with a breezy 27. Sufiyan scored 27 and Mamoon 16. Zaid took 3 wickets, M.Fareed and Mughis took one each. Publicis Graphics made 163 for 4 in 17 overs.
At Mahmood Saeed ground, Young Athletes totaled 173 for 5. Salman made 31, Haroon made 47 and Yassir and Assad made 14 and 13 runs respectively. Babar took 2 wickets while Zeeshan, Hani and Aqeel had one wicket each. Sadafco scored the required runs by losing just one wicket of Aqeel 40 (7x4) while Raheel 52 and Imran 64 took them to 175 for 1 in 12 overs.
At Hempel Paints grounds, Urdu News made 195 for 5 in 20 overs. Hussain Anwar made 52 (4x4), Naveed Abbasi scored 77 and Imran Nasir made 38 off 28 balls as Omer took 2 for 24.
Talha slumped to 146 all out in 18.4 overs as Naveed took 3 for 18 and Ijaz 2 for 20 with support from Imran Nasir 1 for 26, Hussain 1 for 33 and Abeed 1 for 3. Salman 31, Sufiyan 22, Affan 17, Mohir 13 and Anis made 12 runs, as Urdu News won by 49 runs.
At Zuhier A. Zahran grounds, SGB blasted 206 for 6 wickets as Omer Tahir 54 (7x4), Usman Ali 48 (7x4), Farhan Kaleem 45 (6x4), Farhan Mughal 24 (3x4), Ali Ashraf 12 (2x4) boosted the total. Faraz took 3 for 44 and Hammad and Ahsan took one wicket each for Saudia Milk, who were shot out for 132. Ehsan scored 31 runs and Fahad made 27. Obaid took 3 wickets, Usman Ali took 2 wickets while Ali, Farhan, Ali Reza and Omer took one wicket each as Saudia Milk lost by 74 runs.
At Nestle Milo grounds, UMA scored 151 for 7 wickets. Omer Anwar made 59 and Fahad made 26 runs. Ali Johar took 2 for 28, A.Hassan 2 for 20 while Afzan and Waheed took one wicket. Milo made 154 for 3 in 16.3 overs as Hassan hit 62 n.o. (6x4, 1x6) and Ali Johar cracked 40 n.o. (2x4, 1x6). Nasir took 3 wickets.
