AMMAN, 29 June 2004 — Iraqi Transport Minister Luai Hatem said yesterday his government was seeking the return of six Iraqi airliners that were sent to Jordan on the eve of the US-led war in 1991.
“We are holding talks with officials at the Jordanian Civil Aviation Department over the return of the planes” that have been standing at Queen Alia International Airport since January 1991, Hatem said in an interview with the official Jordanian news agency, Petra.
“However, the final decision regarding the aircraft lies with an ad hoc committee that is due to visit Jordan later to assess their condition,” he added.
