RIYADH, 2 July 2004 — Security forces killed two terror suspects and wounded one in another shootout with militants here yesterday.

A source at Al-Arabiya satellite TV channel said two unidentified terror suspects were gunned down in the shootout in the northern Al-Nakheel district.

One police officer also died in the gunbattle.

A security source told Arab News police besieged several residential buildings in the district where a number of terrorists were believed holed up. Witnesses heard gunshots around 10 p.m. and said at midnight the siege was still on.

One terror suspect killed in the shootout was seen dead in his white Toyota Jeep after being fired at by police at the intersection of Imam Saud ibn Abdul Aziz and King Fahd Road.

Police were seen clearing ammunition and hand grenades from the vehicle afterward.

Two police officers and a suspect were also injured in the gunbattle.

It was not clear if either of the terror suspects killed in the shootout was on the Interior Ministry’s most-wanted list.

Meanwhile, a source said police were still looking for the terror suspects who fled after a gunbattle on Wednesday and arrested one suspect with “possible connections” with the standoff.
