JEDDAH, 1 September 2004 — Postal articles such as letters and parcels will be delivered at the doorsteps of houses and companies shortly as the Saudi Postal Corporation has given final touches to the project in a major move to modernize the service.
It requires all institutions and housing units in the country to provide their full addresses to help postal officials deliver the letters without difficulty.
“The service will be introduced shortly after a large-scale media campaign aimed at informing Saudis and foreign residents on the need to provide their full addresses” to make the project a success, Al-Riyadh Arabic daily said, adding that the corporation has prepared the maps required for launching the landmark project.
Owners of residential units have to set up locked boxes in front of their buildings to put letters. They should also subscribe to a post box in the nearest post office.
The corporation also intends to introduce new postal services such as quick cash deliveries.
