RIYADH, 19 September 2004 — Three Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have won their case for non-payment of salaries and non-issuance of iqama but their employer has gone into hiding obviously to elude authorities who are tasked to implement the Labor Court’s decision, the Philippine Embassy said yesterday.
A press statement from the embassy said a report to Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla by Alberto S. Abalayan, labor attaché for Central Region operations, said the labor court handed down a decision on July 15 telling employer Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al Bahouth should pay the complainants their unpaid salaries and to repatriate them at his own expense.
OFWs Cosme M. Tejero, Tomas Islao and Jhonny Hashim filed the complaint against Al Bahouth and they were brought to the Primary Court in Al-Qassim for the adjudication of their case
Abalayan ’s report said that on Sept. 4, OFW Ador G. Esma filed a similar complaint against the employer, for which reason the employer has been recommended for blacklisting. Ambassador Guinomla assured the OFWs that the Embassy will be making forceful representations to ensure that the decision is enforced.
