JEDDAH, 29 November 2004 — The Guhit Pinoy Foundation, in cooperation with the International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ), will hold its 2nd Annual Drawing Competition on Dec.1, from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.
Dubbed “The Colors of Life,” the event aims to inspire and motivate students using their imagination and creativity, to produce colorful works of art expressing their own thoughts, skills, and ideas.
At stake are 15 major awards with trophies and valuable prizes plus 50 consolation prizes, which will be selected from among hundreds of participants from preschool (Nursery, KG1 and KG2); primary (Grade 1 to Grade 3); intermediate (Grade 4 to Grade 6); high school (1st year to 4th year). There will be an on-the-spot drawing competition for intermediate and high school students only.
An estimated 500 “creative” students from the IPSJ, Sunrise International School, Al-Badr International School and Al-Hekma International School are expected to participate.
The event is an annual art competition spearheaded last year by The Guhit Pinoy Foundation as a continuing commitment of the group to discover the artistic talents of students in arts.
Special guests include Daimler Arcega of Al-Hekma International School, the lone survivor of last year’s fire tragedy in Jeddah, and the recently crowned Little Mr. & Miss Bicolandia winners Christian Ruyanduyan and Mariella Gacad.
Consul General Pendosina N Lomondot has been invited as guest speaker for the event, which coincided with the IPSJ’s 23rd Foundation Day celebration.
The IPSJ leadership said contest could also foster and boost the spirit of camaraderie among parents and teachers.
“In one way or the other, this Guhit Pinoy project will surely help unite the Filipino community as a whole,” said the school principal Ameerah S. Ali.
Some parents, friends and companies have pledged to support the program. Among these are Nestle, Taishan Insurance, Nivea, McDonalds, Delta Water, Binzager Coro, Gandour, Aujan Industries, Nivea, Merex Forwarders, Baeshin/Rabea Tea, and The Filipino Channel (TFC).
