It’s is said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Over the past four days in Jeddah, they have proved a friend of disabled children as well. The Disabled Children’s Society, Makkah branch, held its second annual jewelry exhibition, “The Sparkle of Difference” at the Equestrian Club in Jeddah. Princess Seeta bint Abdullah opened the exhibition on Sunday, Dec. 5, on behalf of Princess Sarah Al-Shaalan, wife of Crown Prince Abdullah. Around 600 women attended the charity event the first day, attracted by the glitter of jewelry and wishing to improve the lives of disabled children.
A collection of designs ranging from the simple to the fantastic was exhibited by Al-Mussalli Jewelry Factory; the items were for sale at discounts of up to 50 percent.
Princess Sultana Al-Ibrahim attended the second day of the exhibition which was International Day for Disabled Children on behalf of Princess Sarah Al-Anqari, wife of Makkah governor, Prince Abdul Majeed. She donated SR100,000 to the society.
The Makkah branch of DCS was established five years ago and like all other branches of the society, it seeks to provide comprehensive care for children under 12 who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. The society’s goals also include raising public awareness, creating a positive environment for disabled children and contributing to scientific research related to disabilities.
