Dubai Conference to Focus on PR Industry Challenges

JEDDAH, 11 December 2004 — The National Commercial Bank (NCB) is participating in the annual International Public Relations Association Conference (IPRA) being held at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai from Dec. 12-14. UAE Crown Prince and Defense Minister Muhammad ibn Rashed Al-Maktoum is hosting the event being organized for the first time in the Middle East.

“Al Ahli is the only Saudi bank taking part in the conference,” Ghassan Badkook, media manager, Corp. Communications at NCB, who represents the bank at the conference, said. The bank’s involvement in the conference is meant to explore the latest trade applications in the PR industry, the formation of public opinion and the development of positive impressions for business corporations. He added that seminar participants would discuss the challenges facing this industry, which are on the rise. The association started its activities officially in 1955 and today it has 200 members from 91 countries.

The conference will have more than 600 international PR experts and specialists from 98 countries in Europe, Asia, America, Africa and the Middle East. The work schedule for the conference is set to address the future of the PR industry and mass communication, aside from topics like the role of PR in managing corporate conflicts, best technical applications in PR, strategies of the industry, and values that will bring corporations results in better employment for PR activities and effectiveness.
