IIEE-CRSA Elects New Set of Officers

RIYADH, 13 December 2004 — Newly elected officers of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers in the Central Region (IIEE-CRS) were presented last Friday during the chapter’s 6th annual convention at the Minhal Holiday Inn Hotel.

Elected into office were Rene Datuin, president; Francisco Sigaya, Jr., vice president for internal affairs; Paris A. Visaya, vice president for external affairs; Eduardo Bautista, vice president for technical affairs; Victor Imperial, executive secretary; Lorene Horvidalla, treasurer, and Leandro Suguitan, auditor.

A technical presentation on “Basic Principles of MV Switchgear” was also held during the occasion, which was conducted by Datuin.

Chapter special awards and presidential awards were likewise given to outstanding members by Jun Guantero as head of the Committee on Selection, Honors and Awards. A plaque of appreciation was given to the chapter’s immediate past president Roger Matias as most outstanding member of 2004.

In his speech, Matias announced the forthcoming board examinations for registered electrical, mechanical, civil engineers, as well as registered master electricians on December 15, 16, and 17 at the Mabini Hall of the Philippine Embassy.

Vice Consul Adrian Cruz delivered the speech of Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla as guest speaker.

Elected governors were Eligio Amaranto, Jr., Antonio Guintu, Danilo Cabasa, Danilo Narsolis, Benjamin Dacanay, Meliton Solas, Panfilo Desquitado, and Noel Watiwat.

Datuin said the group hopes to attain the “Most Distinguished IIEE Foreign Chapter” for 2005.

“This can only be realized with the continued strong support from each and everyone,” he said.

The occasion also highlighted the launching of “A Helping Hand Project,” which intends to raise funds for the typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Sigaya who chairs the committee for socio-civic affairs said that the project accepts used and new clothing, toys, and medicines.

He said that cash donation would continue to add to the initial collection of more than $500 for the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).
