KARACHI, 13 December 2004 — Bollywood star Aamir Khan arrived here to a rousing welcome as hundreds of his enthusiastic fans gathered at the Karachi Airport to welcome him. Imran Khan and prominent showbiz personalities accompanied him. Stringent security measures were put in place at the Jinnah International Airport before his arrival.
Aamir Khan along with Imran will receive calls during a local TV channel live transmission for raising funds for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.
Aamir said he came to Pakistan carrying a message of peace and love from the people of India. The friendship is growing and nobody can stop the process, he said.
Speaking at the fund-raising campaign for the cancer hospital, Aamir thanked the people of Pakistan for their love.
The cricket bat used by Aamir Khan in his groundbreaking film ‘Lagaan’ was auctioned to fetch money for the hospital.
Imran, who is the chief of Tehrik-e-Insaaf and chief executive of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital said the people of Pakistan and India were keen to live like good and peaceful neighbors. They are fed up with hostilities, he said.
