RIYADH, 21 December 2004 — Good news for female dependents, especially working women whose jobs require Arabic language in their daily dealings.
The Deanship of Community Service and Consecutive Education has evolved a new program of teaching the Arabic language to female non-Arabic speakers.
The new program is also expected to help those interested to learn Arabic in order to obtain Saudi citizenship. Knowledge of spoken and written Arabic is a precondition for citizenship.
“The program will be in four levels and each level lasts for eight weeks,” the deans said when Arab News contacted her for details of the program. “The program lasts for one academic year,” she added. “We will provide certificate for attendance and other awards,” she added.
The deanship will start receiving applications for this program in the next few days.
This program is designed for the female non-Arabic speakers, who want to learn Arabic, of the communities living in the Kingdom. The objectives of this program are to spread the Arabic language among foreign residents and to enable them to serve the Holy Qur’an”.
Also, it aims to help students to appreciate the principles of Islam and enable them to use Arabic as a means of communication with Saudi society as well as imbibe its culture, the dean said.
