One of Riyadh’s most famous landmarks, Kingdom Centre, has a new online presence at www.kingdomcentre.com.sa. The site provides a wealth of information about the Al-Mamlaka Shopping Mall, residential apartments, commercial offices and the Four Seasons Hotel. The section concerning Kingdom Holding Co. is still under construction.
According to Walter Kleinschmit, GM, Operations, Kingdom Centre, “We are delighted to announce the launch of our corporate website which offers a valuable insight into our diverse business activities. We are confident that the site will grow in content and will attract a sizable web audience.”
Kingdom Centre is located on 94,230 sq. mt. of land in Olaya’s business and commercial district, with a total built up area of 300,000 sq. mt. It contains the Al-Mamlaka Shopping Mall anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Debenhams, offices with advanced information and telecommunications capabilities, the Regus Business Centre, the five-star Four Seasons Hotel, complete fitness club facilities and a variety of fine international restaurants.
For those planning to visit Kingdom Centre, the website makes available a nice map and a good search feature that categorizes Al-Mamlaka’s shops by name or type. There is a good guide to the center’s eateries, too. For those outside Riyadh who will not have an immediate opportunity to see Kingdom Center, the website provides some nice exterior and interior views. There is also a facility allowing the sending of e-cards from the site but no interior views are posted for selection.
The site is attractive and well put together, but kingdomcentre.com.sa is missing some of the bells and whistles that would have kept people coming back every now and then. For example, the site’s idea of a virtual tour is a bit outdated. A virtual tour using technology such as iPix or some sort of narrated streamed-video would have been more engaging than the still images that were posted. Perhaps in the future Kingdom Centre management could also consider mounting a web camera on the Sky Bridge to enable spectacular real-time views of Riyadh.
