ABHA, 24 December 2004 — Two women were killed and 21 injured, including 12 female teachers, when a minibus collided head-on with a jeep on the Taif-Abha highway, Al-Watan newspaper reported.
The minibus was carrying 12 female teachers and the jeep nine members of a family when the two vehicles collided.
Col. Fahad Al-Radi, head of the traffic department in Asir, said the accident occurred when the minibus was trying to pass the jeep which was coming from the opposite direction. The road was closed for three hours after the accident until police and fire department personnel cleared the wreckage.
All injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
