100 Saudi Artists Stand Out

Celebrating its 200th exhibition, the Saudi Arts Center opened an art festival sponsored by the National Commercial Bank in its new location off Arafat Street in Alhamra district, Jeddah. Princess Sultana Al-Ibrahim opened the exhibition on Dec. 28 for women. A second opening for men will be held on Jan. 8 and it will continue for a week. More than a 100 Saudi male and female artists are participating in the exhibition which features a variety of styles and schools of art from abstract to expressionist and cubist art. The works of art are compiled in a booklet that can be found at the exhibition. Saudi artist Mona Al-Qasabi founded the Center 18 years ago and since then it has grown into a well established art institution. The Center offers art classes for children and adults and it is the only private institution of arts whose certificates are approved by the Youth Welfare Presidency.
