MAKKAH, 24 January 2005 — A number of commercial stores in Makkah and Mina have invented a new way to make hay while the sun shines. They are taking advantage of pilgrims wanting to recharge their mobile phone batteries, Al-Madinah newspaper reported. The Hajis are charged SR5 for an hour’s recharging. Pilgrims have no choice but to accept the rip-off in order to keep their phones up and ringing.
