MANAMA, 24 February 2005 — Saudi media figure Hussein Khmash Al-Qahtani, 43, died in a road accident here early yesterday.
According to preliminary investigations, Qahtani lost control of his vehicle as he approached a traffic light, hit the central reservation and two trees, before the vehicle overturned and ended up in traffic from the opposite side.
Qahtani, who had entered Bahrain at 10.30 p.m. Tuesday, was believed to have been returning to Saudi Arabia when the accident occurred at 1.30 a.m.
He was a correspondent for Al-Yaum newspaper, based in the Eastern Province and head of public relations at Saudi Railways Organization located in Dammam.
He was also an announcer for a number of programs aired on Saudi Television’s Channel One and Saudi radio.
Al-Qahtani leaves behind six children, two boys and four girls. His body was taken to Dammam last night where prayers were held for him at Prince Turki Mosque.
