TORONTO, 7 March 2005 — Marc Jackson hit a pair of free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining and Allen Iverson stole the ensuing inbounds pass to give the Philadelphia 76ers a 98-97 win over the Hawks in Atlanta on Saturday.
Iverson scored 33 points to lead the Sixers scoring as Philadelphia handed the reeling Hawks their 11th straight loss.
Jackson’s winning free throws capped a 13-point night for him, including a perfect seven-for-seven from the free throw line.
Iverson went 13-for-13 on his foul shots as Philadelphia went 30-for-34 (88.2 percent) from the line.
Chris Webber added 18 points and eight rebounds for the 76ers, who moved to within one game of the .500 mark (29-30) with the victory.
Despite being cheered on by just their third sell-out crowd of the season, the Hawks slipped to an NBA-worst 10-48.
Al Harrington had 19 points and nine assists to lead the Hawks, who led 74-69 after three quarters.
Josh Childress added 16 points for Atlanta.
In other games, Laron Profit tipped in the game-winning basket with 3.1 seconds remaining as the Washington Wizards got by the Bobcats 86-84 in Charlotte.
Brendan Haywood scored 22 points for the Wizards, who snapped a six-game road losing streak.
Gilbert Arenas added 21 points while Kwame Brown chipped in with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Jason Hart had 20 points to lead Charlotte and Jason Kapono added 19.
In East Rutherford, Steve Francis scored 26 points as the Orlando Magic routed the New Jersey Nets 105-81. Jameer Nelson added a career-high 22 points for Orlando, winners of three straight.
Kelvin Cato had 16 points for the Magic.
Vince Carter led New Jersey with 20 points, hitting the 20-point mark for the 18th straight game.
In Milwaukee, Desmond Mason scored 20 points as the Bucks beat the Chicago Bulls 95-87. Maurice Williams and Michael Redd both added 16 points for the Bucks, who beat the Bulls at home for the 14th straight time.
Kirk Hinrich with 24 points and Ben Gordon with 20 led the Bulls, losers of three straight.
In Phoenix, Shawn Marion scored 26 points and had nine rebounds as the Suns routed the Portland Trail Blazers 129-116.
Amare Stoudemire scored 20 points for the Suns, who rested most of the starters after leading by 24 points after three quarters. Jim Jackson had 18 points and 10 assists for Phoenix.
Damon Stoudemire scored 30 for the Blazers, losers of four straight.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 25 points and 13 rebounds for Portland.
In Los Angeles, Earl Boykins had 22 points as the Denver Nuggets eased to a 105-89 win over the Clippers.
Carmelo Anthony added 21 points for the Nuggets, while Marcus Camby had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Denver (30-29) moved over the .500 mark for the first time this year with its sixth straight win. Bobby Simmons scored 18 points for the Clippers and Elton Brand added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
