RIYADH, 28 March 2005 — As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Saudi-Japanese diplomatic relations, the Ministry of Economy and Planning will host a symposium today on bilateral technical cooperation with special reference to the role of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The event will focus on the technical cooperation program under which more than 1,400 Saudis have attended JICA-run training programs in Japan.

“This event will also highlight Tokyo’s priority areas of interest as far as its ongoing technical cooperation with the Saudi government is concerned,” said Kiyofumi Nakauchi, JICA’s resident representative.

Referring to other programs lined up to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Koji Muto of the Japanese Embassy said a horse race for Japan cup will be held on April 1 at the New Equestrian Club here.

Muto said a Japanese exhibition featuring prints and wood blocks will be organized in May at the national museum in Riyadh.
