HP has launched its latest consumer notebooks for the Middle East, featuring the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, codenamed Sonoma, running on the Intel 915 chipset. The HP Pavilion notebook series ze2000, zd8000 and dv1100 emphasize security, versatility and affordability for consumers who wish to capitalize on the combination of digital entertainment and mobile technology.
“The new Pavilion models can work in turn as a TV set, a digital recorder, a stereo, and, of course, as a powerful computer,” said Hazem Bazan, Solutions Partner Organization Manager and GM, Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East.
The HP Pavilion ze2000 series notebook is an excellent choice for the budget conscious. Enhanced with great views from the large 15-inch display, the notebook offers up to eight hours of battery life with its high capacity 12 cell battery. At the higher end is the HP Pavilion zd8000 series that includes a dual TV tuner and digital video recorder to support up to two live TV shows or series recordings at the same time. Its 17 inch, high-definition widescreen display, allows the zd8000 series notebook to be configured with the Windows XP Media Center 2005 to turn it into the centerpiece for digital entertainment. For those in the market for a multimedia-centric portable, the HP Pavilion dv1000 crams all the characteristics of a multimedia machine into a 5.4-pound chassis, plays DVD movies on its 14.1-inch screen and does not even require booting up to do so.
Pantone Color Bridge Guide
Pantone, a provider of professional color standards for design industries, has brought out the Pantone Color Bridge Guide. The guide shows how Pantone Matching System Colors reproduce in cyan-magenta-yellow-black (CMYK) on coated paper in a side-by-side comparison. The color bridge guide reflects higher quality color matches and includes color swatches that are nearly 25 percent larger than previous guides, for increased accuracy and visual reference when specifying and matching colors.
The color bridge guide displays 1,089 Pantone Colors in fan guide format on coated stock alongside their closest four-color process match. The CMYK screen tint percentages are provided for each process color and RGB and HTML values are included for the solid colors. Including conversion formulas for multiple color spaces in a single guide makes it easier for designers to evaluate color choices when repurposing content for different media. The guide now provides better CMYK matches for solid Pantone Colors along with the color data needed to optimally display Pantone Colors on monitors and web pages.
The Pantone Color Bridge Guide is available immediately for $119. A free color library download that includes the new CMYK values is available from www.pantone.com.

Worldwide Registry for Dot Travel
Tralliance Corp. is to serve as the registry for the new .travel (dot travel) sponsored top level Internet domain name that will be exclusive to the travel industry. Tralliance will oversee policies and procedures for authentication, registration and administrative support services, worldwide, for the top level travel domain.
Expected to launch in late 2005, the full introduction of .travel will be preceded by a start up period for limited registration of pre- authenticated .travel registrants. The .travel domain will allow the travel industry — which includes, among others, cruise lines, transportation services, tour packagers, travel agents, hotels, resorts and destinations — to substantially improve their Internet visibility, communications and transactional capability with travel consumers by lifting their companies out of the anonymity of a .com web.
