JEDDAH, 22 April 2005 — AI-Islam Group, a Jeddah-based cultural organization, plans to launch a variety of programs on the occasion of Rabiul Al-Awwal to facilitate the spread of accurate and authentic information about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Muhammad A. Mateen Osmani, director of Al-Islam Group, said its website www.prophetmuhammadforall.org, which was launched last year, had attracted thousands of people worldwide. “The purpose of this website is to help both Muslims and non-Muslims around the globe learn more about the Prophet of Islam,” he told Arab News.
The site has the largest collection of Islamic books and audiocassettes of Islamic lectures in multiple languages. “As part our Rabiul Awwal programs we are introducing statements on the Prophet by renowned personalities like George Bernard Shaw, Michael H. Hart and Mahatma Gandhi as well as Encyclopedia Britannica,” he said. Screen savers with the picture of Madinah and a Hadith are also available on the site. “All the Hadiths are related to our daily life and this way we want to educate people on the Prophet’s teachings,” he said.
Osmani claimed that the website was offering the world’s rare and biggest collection of Islamic lectures, songs and stories for kids. “You will find them all in one place,” he added. A CD on “Muhammad the Benefactor of Humanity” is available in English and Urdu languages,” he pointed out.
“At present all our Islamic websites are being viewed by people in more than 80 countries and we have received worldwide recognition,” Osmani said, adding that the group was targeting to reach at least half a million people this month.
Maulana Habibur Rahman, chief patron of the group, said after a lapse of more than 14 centuries, the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad have survived without the slightest loss, alteration or interpolation.
“They offer the same undying hope for treating mankind’s many ills,” he said.
