IISJ Marks Investiture Ceremony

JEDDAH, 3 May 2005 — International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ) held its investiture ceremony at the boys’ school auditorium on Sunday. New captains and vice captains were entrusted with their portfolios. Chief guest Farah Sayeed, wife of Indian Consul General Ausaf Sayeed, gave away the badges and crests to various house captains and urged students to strive for excellence in a competitive environment. Acting Director Mohammed Shaffe led the oath-taking ceremony of the new school cabinet. A colorful flag display titled “Solidarity” marked the ceremony.

Vice Principal Anjum Zahoor honored assistant captains with sashes and badges, and inducted the new incumbents of various houses. This was followed by handing over of the school flag to the head girl and house flags to various house captains by Shaffe. Khalid ibn Mohammed, headmaster of 9-12 block, girls section, led the oath-taking ceremony for the class prefects of 6-12 block.

A candle light display by student prefects, which depicted a brightly lit map of India, received applause from the audience who included the three members of the ad hoc managing committee.

Head girl Zainab Sultan spoke about the importance of discipline and commitment in the student’s career.

The school also felicitated the outgoing house heads for their remarkable services.

The function began with a solemn prayer by Maimoona Nabeela of Class 12.
